Burnt Hickory Church of Christ

The Burnt Hickory Youth Ministry exists to lift teens up to see and be called into relationship with Jesus; plant them in the good news of God's Word; and grow them into a group of Jesus disciples who lift others up.

"Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. CHRIS ABERNETHY

YOUTH minister

Chris Abernethy joined us at BH in August 2023. Chris comes to us from Palestine, TX, where he served as the youth minister for four years. Prior to that, he served in two other churches in Virginia. Chris has his Bachelors Degree in Youth Ministry from Abilene Christian University. He works with teens and their families to develop disciples of Jesus and help them take that next step in their faith journey. He is especially passionate about walking with teens through the challenging season of adolescence and expanding their worlds in Christ.
